Founded in 1992 by eco-enthusiasts Patrick and Rebecca Geraty, St. Louis Composting has blossomed into the region’s largest compost producer. The mission of this husband-and-wife team is to help make the world a little greener and reduce landfill waste by producing compost of the highest quality.
Together, our four composting facilities process roughly 500,000 cubic yards of green material annually – more than one-third of all yard waste generated in St. Louis County. In addition to recycling yard trimmings gathered by the area’s major waste haulers, we partner with the cities of Kirkwood, Fenton and Valley Park, Mo. and Granite City, Il. on curbside green waste recycling programs.
Locations
St. Louis Composting is based in Valley Park, Mo. It is also home to a 26-acre composting facility which carries our full line of STA-certified compost, topsoil and soil blends and a variety of mulches. Our neighbors in the Metro East are similarly served by a 52-acre composting facility located just west of Belleville, Ill. A third facility on four acres in Maryland Heights, Mo. serves as a transfer station for neighborhoods in North and West St. Louis County and accepts yard waste including trees, limbs and brush. Our newest St. Louis City facility is 10 acres, located in the Baden neighborhood, serves residents of the City of St. Louis with a compost processing center as well as a retail outlet.
