CLASS B DRIVER/LABORER

St. Louis Composting, Inc., the region’s largest producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends is seeking a Class B CDL Driver/Laborer.

Responsibilities:

  • Transport all materials to job site in a safe manner.
  • Receive information from dispatcher, including invoice for materials, directions to job site and any special instructions and follow them to detail.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and report immediately any concerns or problems.
  • Operate vehicle according to state and federal laws and observing all safety regulations established by the company and DOT.
  • Monitor and immediately report problems with assigned equipment operations, product quality, customer satisfaction and traffic.
  • Work as a team to install erosion control products and perform other duties as required.


Education and Experience
:

  • More than 2 years verifiable experience. Landscaping service preferred.
  • Previous Skid Steer Operator experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical and Drug Test.
  • Clean MVR-No DUI’s or Tickets.
  • Must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time and work in a wide range of outdoor temperatures.

SAFETY/COMPLIANCE MANAGER

St. Louis Composting, Inc., the region’s largest producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends is seeking a Safety/Compliance Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with staff of various disciplines and drive them to plan, develop and enforce broad quality procedures.
  • Administer the plant’s Safety Program.
  • Maintain all required OSHA documentation.
  • Maintain and adhere to the Plant Safety manual.
  • Receive and maintain full current OSHA training.
  • Maintain safety records and prepare monthly safety reports.
  • Order and maintain personal protective equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding plant safety and drug programs.
  • Assist plant personnel with unemployment claims, safety and workers compensation training.
  • Provide support to plant management in developing and implementing new programs, i.e. attendance, safety awards and specialized training.
  • Administer weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Prepare for and interact with plan employees in relation to Worker’s Compensation and medical insurance matters.
  • Interact with insurance carriers, third party administrators and physicians in relation to Workman’s compensation and Health and Welfare Program.
  • Observe employees and determine compliance with safety precautions and safety equipment used.
  • Order suspension of activities posing threat to workers.
  • Document findings and code sections violations to provide evidence in legal proceedings
  • Ensure monthly inspections and weekly meeting are completed each month.
  • Maintain updated A-Z books and OSHA recordkeeping compliance.
  • Complete annual DEQ emission report and Permit compliance.
  • Manage environmental project activities including, scheduling, tracking and planning for environmental assessments, site investigations, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.
  • Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly.
  • Participate in workers compensation claims with Management, HR and carriers.
  • Develop and implement sampling and monitoring plans which may include installing, operating and maintaining equipment which monitor air, land, and/or water pollution levels.
  • Analyze, develop, and implement activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all remediation efforts.
  • Work with Maintenance, Engineering and any other related department on equipment guarding, design, installation and compliance.
  • Conduct or coordinate through the EH & S Coordinator advance training, incident investigations, safety committee meetings and follow up on responses and compliance assurance.
  • Evaluate current and proposed codes, standards, regulations and guidelines to determine the impact on current and future programs and activities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.


Education and Experience
:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred in Science field, plus one to two years related experience and/or training in related functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, web-based data management tools and Internet applications.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

St. Louis Composting, Inc. has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator.

Job Purpose:

Maintains equipment and vehicles by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments and keeping records.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Perform daily pre-shift safety inspection and maintenance of equipment.
  • Operate loader to load customer trucks, haul trucks, material bins, etc.
  • Assist with plant maintenance.
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must present a neat and professional apperance.
  • Must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time, etc.
  • Must be willings to work shift and/or overtime overs during the week, including after dark and/or weekends and holidays as dictated by operations.
  • Assist with plant maintenance.
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SALES ASSOCIATE

St. Louis Composting, Inc., the region’s largest producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends is seeking a part-time Sales Associate for its Valley Park location.   This person reports to the Controller and will interact directly with customers on the phone and in person. position is numerous out and back, same day deliveries.

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting customers
  • Taking and processing orders
  • Answering phone calls
  • Collecting payments
  • Reconciling cash register
  • Scheduling deliveries
  • Filing and other administrative duties as needed

Some Saturdays are required. HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

St. Louis Composting, Inc. has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

Job Purpose:

Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle and equipment deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records.

Responsibilities:

  • Tractor and trailer repair, diesel engine diagnostics and preventative maintenance of the fleet
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.


Skills/Qualifications

  • 3 – 5 years of experience working on commercial trucks
  • Educated in diesel engines, electronic diagnostics, hydraulics, and welding
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed
