HEALTH AND SAFETY COORDINATOR

St. Louis Composting, Inc., the region’s largest producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator. This position will report to the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all health & safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
  • Assist with and ensure development and implementation of SOPs.
  • Help improve upon and maintain a strong, company-wide safety culture
  • Maintain all required OSHA documentation and compliance with OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Develop a program to have all employees given external OSHA training.
  • Maintain safety records and prepare safety status reports.
  • Order and maintain personal protective equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Provide support to each facility’s management in developing and implementing new safety programs.
  • Administer weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Observe employees and determine compliance with safety precautions and safety equipment used.
  • Ability to stop work if any activities pose threat to workers.
  • Meet with federal/ state/ local regulators on a monthly/quarterly basis in accordance with individual facility composting permits.
  • Work with Maintenance/ Engineering/ other relevant department(s) on equipment/machine guarding, design, installation and compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct or assist the EH & S Manager with training, incident investigations and safety committee meetings.
  • Manage and update the structured program of health & safety training throughout the Company.
  • Ensure full and accurate training records are maintained.
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills are conducted, fire alarms are correctly reported and all are documented.
  • Evaluate current and proposed codes, standards, regulations and guidelines to determine the impact on current and future programs and activities.
  • Coordinate with external health and safety consultants concerning training programs and other health and safety services.
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.


Requirements and Qualifications
:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred in Science field, plus one to two years related experience and/or training in related functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, web-based data management tools and Internet applications.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Environment
:

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Have good peripheral vision, color discrimination, and depth perception.
  • Endure periodic climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling.
  • Function in workplace environmental conditions including, but not limited to, cold, heat, bright sun, noise, and nuisance dust.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

St. Louis Composting, Inc. has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator.

Job Purpose:

Maintains equipment and vehicles by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments and alignments and keeping records.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Perform daily pre-shift safety inspection and maintenance of equipment.
  • Operate loader to load customer trucks, haul trucks, material bins, etc.
  • Assist with plant maintenance.
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must present a neat and professional apperance.
  • Must be in good physical condition, able to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time, etc.
  • Must be willings to work shift and/or overtime overs during the week, including after dark and/or weekends and holidays as dictated by operations.
  • Assist with plant maintenance.
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MARKETING MANAGER

St. Louis Composting, Inc., the region’s largest producer of STA-Certified Compost, Mulch Products and Soil Blends is seeking a Marketing Manager. Using creativity and visionary business acumen, the Marketing Manager will apply talent and experience to tailor the marketing strategy towards achieving the Company’s key objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Preserve brand integrity through the development of strategies that support the brand and drive consistency and scale globally through marketing components (communications, messaging, etc.)
  • Use sound business acumen to proactively analyze market and product performance and identify trends/opportunities; proactively assess and assertively respond to market changes
  • Manage, optimize and update Company websites and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, increasing the visibility of the company’s content wherever possible
  • Manage the delivery for social media posts, advertisements, and day-to-day presence across different platforms, interacting with followers by creating fun and engaging content that builds meaningful connections and customer loyalty
  • Manage online discussions by listening and responding to users when needed in a timely and authentic manner, monitoring public sentiment, escalating issues as needed, monitoring and tracking discussion topics for management team, and providing feedback on community happenings.
  • Research and identify bloggers/key influencers and associated communities for blogger/influencer campaigns.
  • Coordinating administrative aspects of marketing activities, including, but not limited to: managing business cards, conducting mass-mailings of materials to customer base
  • Update and maintain a variety of print and digital mediums and promotional materials such as Company websites, online advertisements, flyers, posters, brochures and other materials as needed, keeping a supply ready by coordinating requirements with sales and marketing department; inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt
  • Supports sales staff by providing new product information; relaying customer services requests
  • Partner with Human Resources (HR) to promote and advertise job openings and the Company’s job application via the web
  • Researches competitive products by identifying and evaluating product characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising; maintaining research databases
  • Plans meetings and trade shows by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements; establishing contacts; developing schedules and assignments
  • Assists in monitoring budgets by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading trade publications; attending and assisting with conferences and trade shows
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Assist with enforcing corporate style and branding throughout all communications and materials including Internet, marketing collateral and promotions, etc.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising or Public Relations
  • Five (5) years of work experience in one of the following areas: brand and portfolio management, product development, social media marketing, advertising, creative marketing, marketing analysis, public relations, or as a marketing assistant
  • Must possess a self-starting, action-oriented attitude, with the ability to work independently and thrive working and meeting deadlines in a high volume, fast paced, constantly changing work environment
  • Ability to track and follow data
  • Strong written (blogging, copywriting and graphic design) and verbal communications skills
  • Strong knowledge of, relevant experience with, and passion for social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Solid to advanced understanding of SEO, graphic design and social networking
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency required

CDL CLASS A DRIVER

St. Louis Composting, Inc. has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

Responsibilities:

  • Transport all materials to job site in a safe manner.
  • Receive from dispatcher invoice for materials, directions to job site and any special instructions and follow them to the detail
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and report immediately any concerns or problems
  • Operate vehicle according to state and federal laws and observing all safety regulations established by the company and Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Monitor and immediately report problems with assigned equipment operations, product quality, customer satisfaction and traffic


Educations and Experience:

  • Must be able to read and understand English.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.
  • Must possess a CDL Class A license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable driving experience (preferably Class A driver have experience with walking floor and/or belt trailers) or verifiable educational experience.
  • Must have current DOT medical card and be able to pass DOT physical and drug test
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Must be in good physical condition; able to lift over 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time, etc.
  • Hauling equipment a plus.
  • Willingness/ability to drive to Kansas City a plus.
